where we would advertise

We would Market our film On the TV so we can get our film to the most amount of people as possible. This is because billions of people watch TV and the chances that millions will see this advert is high. we are also wanting it to show after countdown so it hits our target audience of 35 and over woman. with this target audience in mind we would advertised in magazines for 35 +.

what is the bbfc?

The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) are the people who classify films from U to R18 here is their booklet about
them self.

1.The British Board of Film

Classification (BBFC) is an

independent, non-governmental body

funded through the fees it charges to

those who submit films and video

works for classification. Here, and

throughout the Guidelines, video

works are taken to include video

games, and films and programmes

released on DVD or Blu-ray, or

distributed by means of download

or streaming on the internet.

2.The BBFC classifies films on behalf

of the local authorities who license

cinemas under the Licensing Act 2003.

3.The BBFC classifies video works

which are released as video

recordings under the Video

Recordings Act 1984. (The video

games covered by the VRA are those

whose exemption is forfeited under

section 2(2) because they depict

human sexual activity, gross violence

or other matters of concern.)

4.The BBFC classifies video works

which are distributed other than as

a video recording (for example, by

means of download or streaming

over the internet) under a voluntary

scheme called BBFC.online.

5.The BBFC will not classify material

which it believes to be in breach of

the criminal law.

How our film will be rated:
12+ it will contain suggestive violence and not much strong language.
other films in our genre have been rated around the same or higher depending on how they want to show the deaths.]

Theses are more ways of putting logos into the film opening!
This is a TV show but I have picked this because of its genre and how they have established this straight away. They do this by using extreme close ups on blood, knife, cutting things, floss and shoe lace which is made to look like strangling and the shirt to make it look like suffocation. This idea of using extreme close up restricting full view to make the viewer make there own assumptions I really like and believe it should be used.

Target audience

We looked at some information on the UK film council and this is the audience statistics;
As you can see thriller/suspense is the the second most popular and is closest to our genre. This means our genre will work well with the general public.
As you can see this table tells use that females over the age of 35 most enjoy watching this genre, also the people who are in the C2 social class enjoy watching this genre the most.
All this is important for us to know what our target audience is!

Mine, Will's and Kane's pitches. The ending is a technical mishap please ignore!

Pitch1:
we pitched 2 ideas to the group one was about an ex SAS soldier, who has in the past on a mission that went wrong killed innocent people. The first 2 mins of the film will consist of flashbacks to the slaughtering of the innocent people. a few weeks pass and shows his family and him being happy. then on a tv the news will be shown reporting deaths of ex SAS soldiers. he begins to panic and prepare for what is to come. target audience 15+ and action fans
feedback:
one problem that occurred was the setting being in a sunny place the problem with this was that we are in the winter when we film so a sunny day will be hard to get.
The amount of people were also a problem simply because we probably not be able to gather enough actors.
However the group liked the flashback idea because it gives a background to the main character.
overall this idea needed more thinking and more time in which we did not have.

Pitch2:

This idea was a mystery action, a private assassin is killing people and a detective is on the job to find him. the first 2 mins of the film will start with a press confrance about severall killings. it would fade out with his voice still going in the back ground. it will fade to a man walking down a street in black and white, meeting another man. there will be close ups and diologe followed by a death of one of the men. it will then switch to a sniper on a roof top preparing to kill the final man. he will pull the trigger and will go to black and the films title.
feedback:
more thoughts of it being too much to fit into 2 mins.
the group liked the idea of the overlap of the press and the man walking down the street.
the idea of the point of the killer has now been scraped because of it being too complicated.

Results:
the group overall agreed with idea 2 the one with the detective.
since this we have gone with the detective idea.

Analysis of an ex students opening of a movie

The opening scene consists of conventions; they show the production name (madness production), director, produced by, who is being starred. The establishing shots consists of photos of what is thought to be the main protagonists and is confirmed with the camera being on the person in real life. The sound consists of a ticking clock creating suspense, then a deep low sound to create more suspense this increases with volume. the actor's arm appears into view in a close up shot of a door handle the arm moves slowly and gradually. They use zooms mid shot to close up to a bench to reveal a memory flashback. It then it moves to a low key lighting scene walking up some stairs again with eerie music and slow movements. The music becomes very loud when the woman without the face is first scene. The flickering light is a good idea this is used so the woman can appear and disappear with less confusion and keeps the audience interested. There are flashbacks added to the clip to add a backdrop to the main protagonist this has the title ghosted over the top letter by letter spelling Paranoia, finally revealing the title in full. This film opening i think is good in the sense of creating suspense. the down fall of this could be the constant slow movement when i don't think it is needed.
